Classic Red Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml)

  • 1 orange (cut into wedges)

  • 1 lemon (cut into wedges)

  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

  • 1 shot of brandy

  • 2 cups of sparkling water or club soda

  • Ice

  • Extra fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the wine in a large pitcher.

  2. Squeeze the juice from the orange and lemon wedges into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible).

  3. Add sugar and brandy to the mix. Stir well until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour (preferably overnight). The longer it sits, the more the flavors will meld together.

  5. Just before serving, add sparkling water or club soda and ice to the pitcher and stir.

  6. Serve in glasses with a piece of fruit for garnish.
